Privacy Policy

Welcome to OUP’s Privacy Policy
Hi, we are OUP of Blumenstraße 36B in 70182 Stuttgart, Germany and welcome to our privacy policy. This policy sets out how we handle your personal information if you’re a visitor to our Site. When we say 'Site' then we refer to the website oup.studio you are currently browsing. When we say 'we' or 'us' it's because that's who we are and we own and run the site. If we say 'policy' we're talking about this privacy policy. If we say 'personal information' or 'personal data' we actually mean the same thing, it's only because from time to time we might be a little sloppy languagewise.

How we collect personal information
If you want to get in touch with us by sending an email, the personal information that you send us like your email address, possibly your name or other personal data supplied by you in your email text, will be stored to answer your questions. How should we otherwise reply to your request? If storage is no longer required the personal data will be deleted, or - in case legal storage obligations exist - the processing will be restricted.

If you decide to just browse our website the only personal data that will be collected are the ones that your browser submits to our server. Our website follows a responsive design to avoid crappy looking graphical interfaces on different types of screens. To make this possible your browser submits technical details like type, language and version of the browser application itself, operating system and display resolution if you have enabled Javascript, together with the IP address, your Internet Service Provider, date and time of server request and - if applicable - website which referred you to our Site.

The data is stored anonymously in the log files of our system. There is no link with other personal data of the user. We do not draw conclusions about the person concerned. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary for the purpose of its collection. As far as the collection was made for the function-free provision of the website, this is the case with termination of the Internet session.

How we use your personal data
We will use your personal information only where this is necessary for purposes which are in our legitimate interests. These interests include operating the Site, carrying out technical analysis to determine how to improve the Site and monitoring activity on the Site, for example to identify potential fraudulent activity.

Data Security
All information you submit to us will be stored on servers within the European Union and the US. Unfortunately, the transmission of information over the Internet can never be completely secure, which is why we can not guarantee the security of data transmitted via the Internet to our website. However, we do everything we can to protect our site against unauthorized access, fraud or disclosure of your data by unauthorized persons through technical and organizational measures. In particular, your personal data is encrypted by using the coding system SSL (Secure Socket Layer).

Disclosure to third parties
A transfer of your personal information to third parties is excluded, unless there is a legal obligation or you expressly consent to a transfer.

Log files
When this page is retrieved, requests are sent to the server who answers. For this, your IP address is queried. Using logfiles, website operators can track the activities on their pages and find errors. Log files store the IP address and the browser ID used by you as a page visitor. To protect personal data the IP address and browser ID are stored anonymously, so that no conclusions can be drawn on the individual visitors.

Cookies
We love cookies, but only the ones to eat. Computers love the opposite. We have designed our site to live without cookies to any extent. Enjoy a digitally healthy environment without crappy banners as a welcome message.

How you can access your personal information
You have the right to ask us to confirm that we are processing personal data concerning you. You can request confirmation at any time using the contact details below. Please be aware that sending your request by email the personal information that you are sending us like your email address, possibly your name or other personal data supplied by you in your email text, will be stored to answer your questions.

You have the right at any time free of charge to request information about the personal data stored about you, their origin and recipient as well as the purpose of storage. You are entitled to ask us to port your personal information (i.e. to transfer in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, to you), to erase it, or restrict its processing.

Withdrawal
You may withdraw your consent to the future storage of personal information at any time. In addition, you may demand the correction of incorrect personal data as well as the blocking and deletion of this personal data, as far as we do not need these data for the purpose of fulfillment or are required for legal reasons for safekeeping.

Everything is subject to updates these days, even this privacy policy
The day might come where we would need to make changes to this policy in order to ensure it stays up to date with the undulating path of legal requirements. There might also be changes or developments in web technology that might require changes to this policy. We'll make sure to notify you about such changes, where required. A copy of the latest version of our policy will always be available on this page, you are indeed reading the latest version in this very moment.

We are responsible
If you have any questions about our privacy practices or the way in which we have been managing your personal information, please don't be shy to get in touch with us, we are glad to help:

Congratulations
We did it, we have reached the bottom end of our privacy policy, the perfect place to add a personal note. To be honest - the need to publish such a privacy policy on our website initially made us feel a bit annoyed, with a drawback (a lot of work involved) at first sight, but on closer inspection it opened a great advantage by starting the process of self-reflection. All this is not only about your personal data, we are also affected as users of the Internet. And we do not want our personal information wandering through the hemispheres of big data corporations without our consent or control. So it's only natural that we have removed the seemingly free services of the big data collectors from our website. We have no longer integrated Google Analytics, Google Maps or Youtube Player. We bought licenses for using web fonts, hosted on our server instead of linking to web fonts free-of-charge, hosted on foreign servers, collecting your data whilst providing their services. Thus, our website does not disclose any personal information to companies that make their money by trading personal data for promotional or other purposes. Stay safe and stay anonymous to the point where you decide to unveil.

The above privacy policy is valid from 25.05.2018
